Gibson Firebird electric guitars are unmistakable thanks to their unique shape inspired by the design of 1960s cars. The 1963 Firebird V w/ Maestro Vibrola VOS Vintage Sunburst is a historically authentic "reissue" model from the Gibson Custom Shop that harkens back to the 1963 design.
The construction of this guitar is made of mahogany wings and a through neck composed of nine pieces of mahogany and walnut. A special VOS (Vintage Original Specs) finish gives the guitar the authentic look and feel of the originals. The rosewood fingerboard is fitted with twenty-two frets (Authentic Medium-Jumbo). Orientation on the fingerboard surface is facilitated by position blocks (Aged Cellulose Nitrate Trapezoid).
Two mini humbuckers offer a combination of the rock-solid pressure of humbuckers and the clean, piercing, tone of single-coils. They are totally versatile in character, and can be used in a wide range of musical styles. Two volume potentiometers, two tone controls, and a three-position pickup switch are used for sound corrections. The strings are mounted in Deluxe Banjo Tuners tuning machines and through the ABR-1 mare in a Maestro Vibrola tremolo. Period authenticity is emphasized by all the materials/components used and their workmanship.
The guitar comes in a case with a certificate of authenticity.
