The Fender Squier Contemporary Stratocaster Special is an affordable instrument that will please both beginners and experienced guitarists who like the now-classic shape of electric guitars while preferring a contemporary sound and modern touches.
The body of the guitar is made of poplar. The maple neck and fingerboard have been heat-treated before assembly, which makes the wood more stable. The fingerboard surface is divided by twenty-two jumbo-sized frets and black position dots. Playing comfort is enhanced by a flatter twelve-inch fingerboard radius, a nice narrower "C" neck profile and a rounded neck foot.
Three single-coil Squier SQR pickups with Alnico magnets, in a special configuration with the middle pickup positioned close to the fingerboard, offer a wide variety of sounds and sonic settings. The strings are anchored in the company's Die-Cast drives and in a synchronized tremolo with two-point attachment. The stylish look is accentuated by details in the form of black hardware, a single-layer pickguard made of anodized aluminum or a painted headstock.
