The Fender Squier Contemporary Active Starcaster is a new interpretation, or if you want to say evolution, of the original Starcaster semi-hollowbody electric guitar model that Fender launched in the second half of the 1970s. Due to the relatively short production life, the original models are quite interesting collector's pieces, but buying them is not exactly an easy or cheap affair. Squier Starcaster guitars offer the original design of these instruments for a fraction of the amount you would pay for the originals.
The guitar's asymmetrical semi-hollow body (closed, without the characteristic cutouts) is made of laminated maple. Also glued to the bolted maple neck with a pleasing C profile is a maple fingerboard with a modern flatter radius (12 inches) fitted with twenty-two Narrow Tall frets. Orientation around the fingerboard surface is traditionally facilitated by black position dots.
Two active corporate humbuckers with ceramic magnets and high output signal give the guitar a truly massive sound. Volume potentiometer, tone shutters and a three-position pickup switch are used to adjust it.
The strings are mounted in the company's Die-Cast mechanics and in a fixed adjustable tailpiece and truss rod. The guitar's unique design highlights the original headstock shape in addition to the asymmetrical body shape. Traditional elements are represented by black chrome hardware and black body trim.
