The Fender Squier Classic Vibe '60s Mustang is an affordable instrument suitable for beginners and experienced guitarists alike, inspired by the designs of 1960s models.
The body of the guitar is made of poplar. The bolted maple neck with a narrower C profile is glued to a fig wood fingerboard fitted with twenty-two Narrow Tall frets. Players with smaller fingers will appreciate the instrument's shorter gauge (610 mm). Orientation on the fingerboard surface is traditionally facilitated by positioning dots made of imitation mother of pearl (pearloid).
Two proprietary single-coil pickups with Alnico magnets give the guitar a sound with authentic Fender character. This is also respected in the design of the controls in the form of volume potentiometers, tone shutter and two three-position pickup switches (for each separately), which offer in and out-of-phase engagement of both pickups. The strings are mounted in a single-turn vintage-style tremolo and tuning machines with also period-correct design. The visual aspect of the instrument is suitably complemented by nickel hardware, a four-ply imitation tortoiseshell pickguard and the company logo on the headstock.
