Fender Player Series electric basses replace the popular Standard models. This is the brand's basic quality line with a clear plus in the form of price/quality ratio. The series will also attract attention with a renewed choice of colour finishes - you can now choose from Tidepool, Sage Green Metallic, Polar White and Buttercream finishes. Although these are not US-Made basses (they are made in Ensenada, Mexico), they are also subject to a comprehensive quality control process.
The body of this Jaguar is made of proven alder, which combined with the maple neck and fingerboard provides a traditional feel and excellent resonance. The neck is profiled as a comfortable modern C with a satin lacquer finish, and a sure hand on the fingerboard is supported by Medium Jumbo frets that are ideal for the vast majority of playing styles.
A pair of Alnico pickups also work well with the body and neck materials, with one side of the spectrum represented by a punchy and crisp-sounding single-coil Jazz Bass-type pickup, while a split-coil pickup in the middle position takes care of the thick and clearly defined tones. The volume potentiometers for each pickup separately allow the sounds to be mixed at will and fine-tuned to perfection with the tone shutter control. The hardware is also of typical Fender quality, with open drive, a synthetic bone fretboard and a four-stone headstock ensuring stable tuning.
