The Malibu Special electroacoustic guitar belongs to the California series of the American brand Fender. These instruments are characterized by a combination of the features of acoustic guitars and electric guitars of the Stratocaster/Telecaster type.
The Malibu Special Natural is an electroacoustic guitar with a smaller Parlor-style body and a shorter scale. This makes it a suitable choice for players with smaller fingers, or conversely a challenge to play chords in normally unplayable fingerings. The body of the guitar is made of solid mahogany. The instrument's resonant properties are supported by X-type ribbing.
The mahogany neck with a narrower "Slim C" profile is glued to a pau ferro fingerboard fitted with twenty frets, orientation on its surface is facilitated by maple position dots. Stable tuning is ensured by the attachment of strings via the zero and saddle bone frets in the company's 6-in-line electric guitar design and Modern Viking headstock. The nice workmanship of the instrument is accentuated by the maple perimeter binding and rosette, black pickguard and nickel hardware.
True amplification of the natural acoustic sound is guaranteed by the Fishman Flex Body preamp, combining the sensing of an underbody piezo pickup and a contact pickup located in the body of the guitar. The character of the sound can be adjusted using the Volume, EQ (Tone) and Blend controls, which adjust the piezo/body sensor pickup ratio.
The instrument comes in a deluxe gig bag.
