The Fender Limited Edition 64 L-Series Stratocaster Heavy Relic TBST is a limited edition electric guitar from the Fender Custom Shop.
The guitar's two-piece alder body is decorated with a Tobacco Sunburst finish. Although this is a brand new instrument, the Heavy Relic finish with its distinctive faux patina elements tries to convince you otherwise - the "scratched lacquer", faded hardware and other battle scars convincingly evoke decades of intense playing and gigging. Glued to the maple neck (rift sawn) with Large "C" profile is a AAA quality rosewood fingerboard fitted with twenty-one Medium Vintage (47095) frets. Orientation on the fingerboard is facilitated by front and side position dots.
A trio of hand-wound Custom Shop Tomatillo Stratocaster single-coil pickups (the middle one has reversed polarity and windings) gives the guitar a cool dynamic sound with Strat feel. The Alnico 2 magnets used simulate what properly preserved pickups with Alnico 5 magnets might sound like years later. The strings are mounted across the bone fretboard in the company's vintage-style tuning machines and in synchronized tremolo.
The guitar comes in a case (Deluxe Hardshell) along with a strap and certificate of authenticity.
