The Knife Drop pedal effect is a collaboration between Eventide, Third Man Hardware and renowned guitarist Jack White. It is a blend of octave fuzz and analogue monophonic synth, the sound of which could be described as horror maniacal chaos... What else would you expect from Jack White?
Three basic controls allow you to: firstly, mix the input signal with a monophonic synth (Synth), secondly, control the amount of distortion (Drive) and thirdly, adjust the level of the output signal from -12 to +9dB (Level). Using the Alt button takes you to three alternative functions of these controls, which you can use to control the parameters of the resonant low pass filter - you'll find Attack, Resonance and Cutoff. You can also use the Active footswitch to change the position of the filter, placing it either before or after the distortion, which dramatically affects the character of the sound. The second footswitch, Octave, adds higher octaves or even sub-octaves to the effect. The effect includes five factory presets, which were created in collaboration with Jack White. In addition, you can save your own presets so you always have your favorite settings at hand.
The rear panel features a single jack mono input that can be switched to stereo so you can connect the Knife Drop to any instrument. The two mono outputs support stereo audio transfer, and you can easily perform software updates with the mini USB. The device also supports MIDI connectivity either via USB port or via TRS output for an external Expression pedal. A 9V adapter is used to power the device.
