Epiphone electric guitars have been a more affordable alternative to Gibson originals for decades. And that's also the case with the Les Paul Custom Alpine White, created in collaboration with the Gibson Custom Shop.
The mahogany body of the guitar is adorned with a maple top (maple cap) and Alpine White finish. The one-piece mahogany neck with a nice Modern Medium C profile is glued to an ebony fingerboard with twenty-two Medium Jumbo frets. Orientation on the fingerboard is facilitated by mother-of-pearl position blocks.
The two 490R and 498T humbuckers with Alnico 5 and 2 magnets and waxing are a more modern interpretation of PAF pickups with less aggressive highs and more emphasis in the midrange, which can be used in a wide range of styles from hard rock and heavy metal to jazz. The pickups are hand soldered to CTS potentiometers, output jack and Mallory capacitors.
Stable tuning is ensured by mounting the strings in Grover Rotomatic gears with an 18:1 gear ratio and through a LockTone TOM string in the string. The stylish workmanship is accentuated by the mother-of-pearl company logo and split diamond inlay on the headstock, double-sided body binding, black five-ply pickguard and gold hardware.
