Elektron Digitone II

The Elektron Digitone II is the evolutionary successor to the popular Elektron FM synthesizer, now offering expanded polyphony, increased power and track count, much wider synthesis options including filters and effects, and even better creative control.

Digitone II is a multitimbral polyphonic synthesizer that gives you a modular workflow in a compact desktop format. Its 16 tracks (up from the original 8) can be used for any synthesizer or MIDI, with 16 voices of polyphony available for synthesizers (double the number of the previous version). With this flexible combination, you can create truly complex soundscapes. In addition, you'll also have a large number of filters, an extended sequencer, new features supporting easy playability or a powerful editor, and more. The possibilities are now deeper and more varied than you ever imagined.

Synth Machines
Four new synthesizers, Wavetone, Swarmer, FM Tone and FM Drum, go beyond standard FM synthesis and offer greater creative potential for creating rich melodic, rhythmic and percussive sounds.
Dive into sound creation with Wavetone, a new take on the classic two-oscillator synthesizer. Morph between oscillator shapes, add phase distortion and oscillator modulation, or precisely define the character of noise.
Take buzz sounds to the next level with the Swarmer tool. The Super-saw oscillator offers plenty of waveform control, combine the sound with detune and noise modulation controls to achieve rich and complex textures.
FM Tone is Digitone's original FM synthesis engine, still capable of shaping your sound in every possible direction.
FM Drum offers heaps of percussive flexibility and fine tuning options for your perfect synth drum party. Despite the name, it can do melodic magic too.

Sequencer
Digitone II features a 128-step sequencer (twice as long as the original Digitone), allowing you to create more complex patterning and compositions. Euclidian mode then offers a new approach to sequencing that makes it easier to generate evolving rhythms. With individual patter length, time scale multipliers and improved trigger options, Digitone II's sequencing features represent a big leap forward from the original model, while allowing much deeper control over compositions.

Filters
Digitone II's advanced filters will amaze you with their immeasurable depth. Experiment with Comb- and Comb+ functions or try Multi-mode, EQ, Lowpass 4 and Legacy LP/HP. The basic Width filter is now more flexible, place it before other filters or at the end of the audio track chain. There's a dedicated amp envelope for each voice, ADSR for added control and clarity, or AHD to maximize percussive sounds. Use the three LFOs to push your sounds into unpredictable but inspiring areas.

Effects unit
Digitone II builds on the modulation and effects capabilities of its predecessor, but adds a host of additional options for sound enhancement. Expect lush reverb and delay effects, shimmering and dissonant chorus, or brutal bit reduction and sample rate reduction or overdrive. You can place the effects before or after the filter, whichever suits you best. There's a master compressor with side chain and other parameter options, as well as a master overdrive for even more distortion control.

Playability
Digitone II is packed with tools to maximize performance and playability. The Note edit feature gives you tremendous editing control over every note of a chord. Edit notes, length, dynamics and even micro-timing. Press the arpeggiator button to explore rhythmic and melodic ideas. Take your sounds even further with customizable modulation settings for aftertouch, pitch bend, mod wheel, dynamics and breath control, and newly added key tracking - each with 4 assignable parameter targets and independent depths. Connect an external MIDI controller and get to work.

Presets
Digitone II is packed with excellent preset sounds that you can work with right out of the box. So it's ready to inspire you right from the start. Create any palette of special sounds in the kit and save all your song sounds, synth parameters, modulation targets and more for quick and easy recall when you start your next song. With Perform Kits, you can try out wild edits or experiment with completely different kits, safe in the knowledge that you're not overwriting your saved state.
