Electro-Harmonix 1440 Stereo Looper

The 1440 Stereo Looper from Electro-Harmonix is a compact but feature-packed device that will delight any creative musician, busker or composer. It provides up to 24 minutes of stereo recording in high audio quality (24-bit/44.1 kHz), allowing you to record unlimited layers of loops without the sound quality suffering. The device provides 20 memory slots where you can store your recordings and easily recall them later.

On the control panel, you'll find three basic potentiometers - Level to adjust the volume of the loop being played, Tempo to adjust its speed (and pitch), and Overdub, which you can use to set a smooth fade-out of previous loops. The Loop footswitch handles all basic looper functions such as recording, loop layering and playback, while the second Stop/FX footswitch lets you easily track the loop being played or activate looping effects (Octave, Reverse, Oct+Rev, Retrigger). The Mode knob lets you switch between the looper's modes and adjust a number of its functions - for example, in Loop mode you can scroll through memory banks, SWFX lets you switch between the Stop/FX footswitch functions, and EXTC lets you set tempo parameters when using an external MIDI controller.

Looper also offers a wealth of connectivity options. In addition to two jack inputs/outputs that allow stereo interfacing with other effects or connecting up to two instruments, there's also a MIDI connector for connecting an external control device and USB for importing and exporting loops (you can manage your recordings in the associated Windows or Mac app). An external pedal input gives you even more control over the looper's many functions. The box is wired as a buffered bypass, so it will help you compensate for the losses that occur when passing a guitar signal through a long band or complex effects chain. All electronics are housed in a rugged chassis. Power is supplied by the included 9.6V adapter.
