The Eastman Strings brand was founded in 1992 by Chinese flutist Qian Ni after graduating from the Boston University School of Music. Over the course of three decades, the company's portfolio has grown to include acoustic, semi-acoustic and electric guitars (Eastman Guitars) and with it the brand's fame, so that the company's players include such luminaries as James Dean Bradfield (Manic Street Preachers), Adrian Utley (Portishead) and Lee Ranaldo (Sonic Youth). In the case of Eastman instruments, you can rely on superior craftsmanship, demonstrated by features and techniques such as hand-reduced ribbing or individual tuning of the instrument's soundboard.

The Eastman T186MX-GB is a semi-hollowbody electric guitar in the double-cut design of the popular ES-335 "thinline" models. It is a classic semi-hollowbody guitar with a sixteen-inch wide all-solid body, with the soundboard made of maple and the back and sides made of mahogany. Glued to the mahogany neck with a pleasing "C" profile is an ebony fingerboard fitted with twenty-two Medium Jumbo frets. Orientation on the fingerboard is facilitated by pearl position dots.

Two Bare Knuckle BC Old Guard Custom pickups with Alnico 2 magnets and lower output provide the guitar with an open dynamic sound that you'll appreciate in blues, country, pop and rock. Adjust the character of the sound using the standard controls. The strings are mounted in Gotoh's renowned tuning machines and through the Gotoh TOM bridge in the stringers. The nice workmanship is accentuated by the double-sided figured maple body, fingerboard and headstock binding and the mother-of-pearl company logo on the headstock.
