The Eastman Strings brand was founded in 1992 by Chinese flutist Qian Ni after graduating from the Boston University School of Music. Over the course of three decades, the company's portfolio has grown to include acoustic, semi-acoustic and electric guitars (Eastman Guitars) and with it the brand's fame, so that the company's players include such luminaries as James Dean Bradfield (Manic Street Preachers), Adrian Utley (Portishead) and Lee Ranaldo (Sonic Youth). In the case of Eastman instruments, you can rely on superior craftsmanship, demonstrated by features and techniques such as hand-reduced ribbing or individual tuning of the instrument's soundboard.
The Eastman T146SM is a lube electric guitar with a narrower all-solid body (Thin Archtop Jazz) based on the finest tradition of jazz guitars. The body of the instrument is constructed from a carved spruce top and the back and sides are made from figured maple. A maple neck with a pleasing "C" profile is glued to an ebony fingerboard fitted with twenty Medium Jumbo frets. Orientation on the fingerboard is facilitated by pearl position dots.
The neck's custom-wound Lollar Custom Wound Imperial humbucker gives the guitar a clean, warm and dynamic 1950s PAF pickup sound that excels in jazz and blues. Adjust the character of the sound using the standard controls. The strings are mounted in the renowned Gotoh brand tuning machines and through an adjustable ebony fingerboard in a (brass/ebony) stringer. The fine workmanship is accentuated by the ivory imitation body, fingerboard and headstock perimeter binding, lined ebony pickguard, gold hardware and mother-of-pearl company logo on the headstock.
The guitar is supplied in a case.
