The Eastman Strings brand was founded in 1992 by Chinese flutist Qian Ni after graduating from the Boston University School of Music. Over the course of three decades, the company's portfolio has grown to include acoustic, semi-acoustic and electric guitars (Eastman Guitars) and with it the brand's fame, so that the company's players include such luminaries as James Dean Bradfield (Manic Street Preachers), Adrian Utley (Portishead) and Lee Ranaldo (Sonic Youth). In the case of Eastman instruments, you can rely on superior craftsmanship, demonstrated by features and techniques such as hand-reduced ribbing or individual tuning of the instrument's soundboard.
The Eastman SB55/TV-LTD-PB is an electric guitar in a single-cut "LP" design from the brand's limited edition line. The body of the guitar is made of okoumé. An ebony fingerboard with twenty-two frets is glued to the one-piece okoumé neck. Orientation on the fingerboard is facilitated by pearl position dots.
The Lollar 50's Spec Dog Ear P90 pickup provides the guitar with a warm, full yet articulate sound that you'll associate with larger single-coil pickups from the late 1950s. Adjust the character of the sound using the standard controls. The strings are mounted in Faber tuning machines (Kluson Style) and a string bender. The nice workmanship is accentuated by the glossy body paint with a subtle touch of patina (Truetone Vintage Gloss), black pickguard, hardware with subtle patina elements (Antique Nickel) and pearl company logo on the headstock.
The guitar comes in a case.
