The Eastman Strings brand was founded in 1992 by Chinese flutist Qian Ni after graduating from the Boston University School of Music. Over the course of three decades, the company's portfolio has grown to include acoustic, semi-acoustic and electric guitars (Eastman Guitars) and with it the brand's fame, so that the company's players include such luminaries as James Dean Bradfield (Manic Street Preachers), Adrian Utley (Portishead) and Lee Ranaldo (Sonic Youth). In the case of Eastman instruments, you can rely on superior craftsmanship, demonstrated by features and techniques such as hand-reduced ribbing or individual tuning of the instrument's soundboard.
The Eastman Romeo-NYC is a semi-hollowbody electric guitar with a sleek modern design. The front of the guitar is made of laminated spruce, while the back and sides are made of laminated mahogany. An ebony fingerboard with twenty-two frets is glued to the maple neck. Orientation on the fingerboard is facilitated by pearl position dots.
The two Seymour Duncan Psyclone Filtertron pickups combine the qualities of classic humbuckers with the P90, offering a wide variety of sounds that you'll love in an equally diverse range of musical styles (from jazz, blues, country, rock and roll, rockabilly to classic and modern rock). Adjust the character of your sound with the volume potentiometer, two tone controls and a three-position pickup switch.
The strings are mounted in locking tuning machines (Göldo K-Line) and through a Göldo 3-Point Vario bridge in a Göldo Les Trem (Duesenberg) tremolo with a Bigsby-style tremolo lever. The nice workmanship is accentuated by the double-sided imitation ivory body binding and pearl company logo on the headstock.
