The Eastman Strings brand was founded in 1992 by Chinese flutist Qian Ni after graduating from the Boston University School of Music. Over the course of three decades, the company's portfolio has grown to include acoustic, semi-acoustic and electric guitars (Eastman Guitars) and with it the brand's fame, so that the company's players include such luminaries as James Dean Bradfield (Manic Street Preachers), Adrian Utley (Portishead) and Lee Ranaldo (Sonic Youth). In the case of Eastman instruments, you can rely on superior craftsmanship, demonstrated by features and techniques such as hand-reduced ribbing or individual tuning of the instrument's soundboard.
The Eastman MD304E is an all-massive electroacoustic A mandolin that is sure to appeal to even the most experienced mandolin player. The mandolin's soundboard is made of spruce, while the back and sides are made of maple. The body is covered with satin lacquer. An ebony fingerboard with twenty-four frets is glued to the maple neck.
The strings are held in Proline J-105 tuning machines via a bone fret and in an aluminium stringers via an adjustable compensated ebony bridge. The nice workmanship is accentuated by pearl dots on the fingerboard, decorative rosette (diamond pattern) and ivory imitation perimeter binding.
The K&K Duotone internal pickup offers the possibility of sound reinforcement. The mandolin is supplied in a padded gig bag.
