The Eastman Strings brand was founded in 1992 by Chinese flutist Qian Ni after graduating from the Boston University School of Music. Over three decades, the company's portfolio has grown to include acoustic, semi-acoustic and electric guitars (Eastman Guitars) and with it the brand's fame, so that the company's players include such luminaries as James Dean Bradfield (Manic Street Preachers), Adrian Utley (Portishead) and Lee Ranaldo (Sonic Youth). In the case of Eastman instruments, you can rely on superior craftsmanship, demonstrated by features and techniques such as hand-cut ribbing or individual tuning of the instrument's soundboard.
The Eastman E22OOSS/v -SB is an all-massive acoustic guitar with a smaller 00-type body. The front of the guitar is made of Adirondack spruce, while the back and sides are made of walnut. The body is decorated with a thin hand-applied varnish (Antique Varnish) also used on Eastman stringed instruments.
An ebony fingerboard with 20 frets is glued to a mahogany neck with a nice "C" profile. In addition to the thin hand-applied lacquer, the resonance of the top is supported by hand-reduced ribbing (Scalloped X), while the fingerboard orientation is facilitated by pearl position markers in the shape of diamonds
The strings are held in nickel open tuning machines (Open-Gear PingWell V93N 3+3) and an ebony fingerboard via a bone fretboard. The nice workmanship is accentuated by the double-sided imitation ivory body binding complemented by a herringbone pattern tab, firestripe pickguard and mother-of-pearl motif and company logo on the headstock.
The guitar is supplied in a case.
