Timbales

Timbales are Cuban drums with a metal casing. They are shallower and tuned higher than classic tom-toms. They are always used in pairs, and their diameter ranges from 12 to 16 inches. There are also mini timbales or timbalitos with a diameter of 6, 8 or 10 inches. Timbales are usually played alone or with a cowbell, cymbal or woodblock.
