Guiro, Rasp
Traditional wooden guiros comprise a wooden cylinder, sometimes hollow, that has an evenly notched surface. It is played by rubbing a stick (sometimes called a “pua”) along the surface, resulting in a characteristic rasping sound. Plastic guiros are constructed in a way that imitates their wooden counterparts.
