Digitech Trio Plus

The Trio+ box from Digitech is a unique effect that can automatically generate bass and drum parts for the songs you play. It works simply by pressing the Band footswitch, playing your chord sequence, the pedal learns it and creates a customized rhythmic backing for you! This can then be customised using the Genre and Style controls - you can choose from twelve musical genres (Blues, R&B, Rock, Alternative Rock, Metal, Pop, Electronic Pop, Hip-Hop, Country, Folk, Latin and Jazz) and twelve rhythmic styles in 3/4 or 4/4 time. If you are unsure of the appropriate style, a hint in the form of a lit LED next to the selected style/genre will help you. You can also adjust the level of complexity of the bass line in three levels, from the simplest to the most complex.

In addition to these automatic accompaniments, the Trio+ houses a guitar looper. This lets you record loops, layer them endlessly and use them simultaneously with the Band function. This gives you rich, full-sounding tracks that make you feel like you have a full band with you at all times. The box also allows you to program a sequence of parts of a song (e.g. intro, verse, chorus, bridge) that the drum and bass machine will learn (the device can learn up to five different accompaniments). Also included are integrated guitar effects, which are easily activated with the Guitar FX button (the type of effects depends on the style choice). The Tempo control is used to adjust the overall tempo of the song, while the Alt Time button offers different interpretations of your tempo so you can find the best possible accompaniment.

In terms of connectivity, the Trio+ provides one instrument mono input for connecting your guitar, an input for an external footswitch, an input and output for effects loop integration (FX Send/Return), a guitar output, a mix output, a USB port for firmware updates and connection to TRIO Manager Software, a microSD card slot and a headphone output. All electronics are hidden in a robust chassis. The included 9V adapter is used for power supply.
