To celebrate the 50th anniversary of the famous DOD Overdrive Preamp 250, DigiTech has come up with a limited edition grey version that is reminiscent of the original models from the 1970s. In addition, it also houses new features, most notably the optional switching between three clipping modes, giving you three different Overdrive effects in one compact body. DigiTech has produced only 1974 pieces, so don't hesitate long to buy! This limited edition is a must-have item for any collector's collection.
With three switchable mods, this is the most versatile DOD 250 ever to hit the scene. SILICON mode offers the classic silicon diode sound that the original model was famous for, giving you the typical sound of this legendary box. The newly added Ge/ASYM mode takes you into the world of asymmetrical clipping, producing the harmonically rich overdrive characteristic of vintage germanium diodes. A third mode, LIFT, allows you to remove diode clipping from the signal path altogether and use the effect as a clean boost (or also a distorted boost, which you achieve by overdriving the built-in LM741 operational amplifier). The box is fitted with the same two Gain and Level potentiometers we know from the classic DOD 250 - Gain is used to adjust the amount of distortion, while Level controls the volume.
The pedal was designed and handcrafted in the USA, so it's an American pedal with all the trimmings. On the front you will find a commemorative 50th anniversary badge. Also included is a certificate of authenticity and a set of accessories to celebrate the effect's 50th birthday - footswitch cap, picks and stickers. All pedal electronics are made up of components with wire leads (through-hole technology), which makes it easy to modify the effect if necessary. The power supply is provided by a 9V adapter or 9V batteries (not included).
