Darkglass was founded in 2009, but since then, its products have become the favorite of dozens of bassists from all over the world. Members of bands such as Cannibal Corpse, Faith No More, Jamiroquai, Lamb of God, The Strokes, Suicidal Tendencies, Tony Levin and Devin Townsend to name a few. The new Alpha-Omega 500v2 builds on the success of its predecessor, the Alpha-Omega 500, and takes its capabilities even further. It's based on the popular Alpha-Omega distortion effect, but unlike it, it also offers an improved, fully analogue preamplifier and a 500 watt Class D amplifier that has been enhanced with a six-band graphic equaliser with extra quiet operation. Using the Mod and Blend knobs with Bite and Growl switches, the amp covers a wide range of sonic positions, from crystal-clear highs, to rock crunch, to uncompromising distortion that still retains harmonic richness and fantastic dynamics. A studio-quality VCA compressor also adds another dimension to your sound.
As is customary with the Darkglass brand, there's also a wealth of connectivity. In addition to the usual and less traditional features, it's worth mentioning the USB connector for working with Impulse Response simulations, MIDI connector for connecting a controller, Pre/Post DI XLR outputs, an effects loop, headphone output with separate volume and Aux In for connecting an external audio source. You can use external speakers with a resistance of 2 Ohms or more. There is also a footswitch input (not included), which you can use to control the Alpha-Omega Engine and the Mute function.
