The Premier range represents the more affordable instruments in the D'Angelico portfolio, but they meet all the quality craftsmanship requirements associated with the brand. The DC semi-hollow model is the company's answer to the growing demand for guitars with two cutaways.
The Premier DC Burnt Red's half-bow construction is made from laminated maple and a centre block that reinforces the soundboard and counteracts the unwanted "binding" effect of the bellows. The maple neck is glued to a walnut fingerboard fitted with twenty-two Medium Vintage nickel silver pakfong frets. The narrow C profile of the neck ensures smooth movement of the fingers on the fingerboard and a comfortable fingerboard, while the position blocks made of imitation mother-of-pearl facilitate orientation on the fingerboard.
Two proprietary humbuckers optimized for the Mini DC body shape give the guitar a warm, lush sound that will please whether you prefer a clean tone or rockier distortion/overdrive. From jazz, blues and fusion to contemporary rock, the instrument will find its niche. The character of the tone can be shaped using the volume and tone potentiometers with ebony caps and the three-position pickup switch.
The body of the guitar is balanced by the company's signature Art Deco headstock decorated with a mother-of-pearl company logo and inlay. Stable tuning and good sustain are guaranteed by the Graphtech NuBone XL zero fret in the 14:1 gears and the TOM string in the stringers. The stylish look of the guitar is accentuated by the multi-layered body, fingerboard and headstock binding and the five-layer Scalini pickguard.
