D'Angelico's Excel series represents instruments manufactured in the Republic of Korea, which, thanks to the quality of workmanship and components, will delight professional players and pure music enthusiasts.
The D'Angelico Excel Style B Dark Iced Tea Burst bark guitar is a faithful replica of the 1930s archtop model made by John D'Angelico. Simply an old-school lute that embodies the soul of New York jazz.
Constructed with a laminated spruce top and laminated flamed maple back and sides, the body offers a warm, natural acoustic sound. Glued to the three-piece maple and walnut neck with a "C" profile is an ebony fingerboard fitted with twenty frets (Jescar 47/104 Nickel Silver). Orientation on the fingerboard is facilitated by pearl position blocks (Mother of Pearl Split Block).
A floating single-coil DeArmond Rhythm Chief pickup, often used on D'Angelico guitars from the late 1930s and 1940s, amplifies the instrument's warm "woody" acoustic sound without altering its character. The settings can be adjusted using the volume and tone controls.
Stable tuning and good sustain are guaranteed by mounting the strings via a Graphtech NuBone XL zero fret in Grover 150 Imperial mechanics with a 16:1 gear ratio and an ebony fretboard in a D'Angelico Stairstep. The guitar's stylish look is accentuated by the body, fingerboard and headstock binding, gold-finished hardware, a headstock adorned with mother-of-pearl corporate and B style logos (Mother-of-Pearl) and a five-ply Scalini pickguard.
The guitar comes in a deluxe hardshell case.
