D'Angelico Deluxe Bob Weir 3 Satin Trans Wine

D'Angelico Deluxe Series guitars represent the best of the D'Angelico brand. In addition to superior craftsmanship, they boast features previously reserved only for the top-of-the-line D'Angelico limited edition models.

The Deluxe Bob Weir 3 Satin Trans Wine semi-hollowbody guitar in a single-cut design is the signature model of Bob Weir of the Grateful Dead fame. The 15-inch wide body of the guitar is made of laminated maple. A lightweight center block stiffens the soundboard and counteracts the unwanted "binding" effect of the bellows.

A three-piece maple and walnut neck is glued to an ebony fingerboard fitted with twenty-two Jescar 47/104 pakfong (nickel silver) frets. The neck's narrow C profile ensures smooth finger movement on the fingerboard and a comfortable finish, while the fingerboard orientation is facilitated by Mother of Pearl split-block position blocks.

Two TV Jones Custom DA'Tron humbuckers and their special wiring with four push/pull potentiometers give the guitar an unprecedentedly wide range of sonic colors - from rich, warm tones to what Bob Weir calls "the ring of steel." Push/pull knobs allow you to not only split the humbucker coils, but also choose between wiring the inner and outer coils. As a result, the guitar offers 15 different pickup wiring combinations ranging from standard H-H and H-S split-coil (inner/outer coil) to S-S split-coil combinations (inner-inner, inner-outer, outer-inner, outer-outer coil).

The body of the guitar is balanced by a typical Art Deco headstock decorated with the company's mother-of-pearl logo and inlay. Stable tuning and good sustain are guaranteed by the attachment of the strings through the Graphtech TusQ zero fret in Grover 509 Super Rotomatic Locking mechanisms and through the TOM bridge in D'Angelico Shield tremolo. The guitar's luxurious finish is accentuated by multi-layer body, fingerboard and headstock binding, Scalini five-ply pickguard, ebony potentiometer caps and gold hardware.

The guitar comes in a deluxe hardshell case.
