The TARS Deluxe pedal effect from French brand Collision Devices is suitable for use with guitar, bass, synthesizers and other instruments. It is a 100% analogue fuzz pedal based on silicon transistors, based on the basic version of the TARS pedal. It includes a redesigned fuzz circuit that makes it sound better in low-gain settings, now features a high-pass filter in addition to a low-pass filter, and also offers Blast to add feedback and Add Fuzz to create a mix of filtered and unfiltered fuzz signals.
The result is an all-new and more powerful TARS that lets you create ambient soundscapes that sound like they were cut from the latest sci-fi movies. You make basic volume adjustments using the two potentiometers Gain and Master, with Gain controlling the volume at the beginning of the circuit, Master at the end. Both filters have two faders - one to set the cutoff frequency and the other to increase the signal strength around that frequency. The attenuation of each filter can be further adjusted (you can choose between -12dB/octave and -24dB/octave). The Blast control then allows you to adjust the feedback volume to achieve a very noisy and aggressive sound, and when you activate Add Fuzz, you add an unfiltered signal in parallel to the filtered fuzz, giving you a higher volume, boost for the set cutoff frequencies and a phaser-like effect.
In addition to the fader, you can also use an external expression pedal to control the cutoff frequency (you simply set whether it controls the low-pass or high-pass filter with the switch on the back of the box). The effect is wired as a true bypass. A 9V adapter (center negative) is required for power supply.
