The Boss DS-1W pedal effect from the Waza Craft series is an extended version of the legendary Boss DS-1 distortion effect. Waza is a Japanese term for art and technique, and the Waza Craft series is all about the art of creating a unique and extraordinary sound. Now you can choose between the classic DS-1 pedal sound and Custom mode, which opens the door to a whole new tonal palette - let yourself ride the waves of sonic excellence.
Standard mode offers massive gain, long sustain, rich harmonies and thick, punchy bass - in short, an effect that changed the sound of hard rock, heavy metal and punk forever and that you'd find in the gear of guitarists like Kurt Cobain, John Frusciante and Steve Vai. In the new Custom mode, you get a sound that's more focused on midrange, punch and dynamic sensitivity. It will give you a fuller, more punchy distortion that stands out in any mix, while still retaining the typical DS-1 sound.
The box's great strength is that it respects the sound of the guitar and pickups at all times, preserving their sonic articulation and distinctive tone. Whether you're playing thick rock riffs or vocal solos or ultra-fast guitar shred, this pedal will make every note stand out. With the distortion turned down to a minimum, the DS-1W can also be used as a booster/overdrive. The three Level, Tone and Distortion knobs offer completely intuitive controls that even a complete beginner can handle. The box operates in Buffered Bypass mode, as do all pedals in current Boss production. Power is supplied by a 9V battery or 9V adapter.
