The Behringer Centaur Overdrive is a faithful reproduction of one of the most sought-after overdrive pedals on the market, the Klon Centaur, which was a favorite of Jeff Beck, John Mayer and Joe Perry, and whose price has climbed into the thousands of dollars due to high demand. Whether you're looking for a subtle, transparent overdrive that sounds great at any volume, a clean boost for your soloing, or massive saturation that will shake the stage, this replica is the right choice for you. It's a Centaur with everything - just in a more compact and affordable version.
The heart of the control panel is the Gain potentiometer, which not only controls the amount of distortion, but also blends the sound distorted with the help of germanium diodes with the clean signal of your guitar. If turned all the way to the left, the effect will function as a clean boost. The more you turn it to the right, the more saturation you get. You can then use the Treble knob to fine-tune the center frequencies, and use Output to adjust the volume of the output signal.
All of the electronics are housed in a sleek metal chassis that's an authentic replica of the original centaur, just a little smaller to save space on your pedalboard. The effect, like the original, is wired as a buffered bypass, preventing signal loss. Power is supplied by a 9V adapter (not included) or a 9V battery.
