The Katana MkII series has taken the acclaimed guitar hybrid series to a new level by expanding the number of sound modes, effects and features. Within each of the five basic sound modes (Clean, Crunch, Lead, Brown and Acoustic) you can now choose between two sound settings, the number of effect sections has grown from three to five (Booster, Mod, FX, Delay and Reverb) and functionality has been improved (Power Amp input, updated editing software and many other enhancements).

The Katana-Head MkII is a four-channel, 100W guitar hybrid amp that uses BOSS Tube Logic technology to deliver the authentic distortion output characteristics of classic tube amps. Thanks to the Power Control function (100W, 50W, 0.5W), you'll be able to enjoy the "kicked-up" sound and response of the machine even at room volume.

Within the wide range of amp sounds, you'll easily find your own - whether you're more into oldies retro tones, more modern hi-gain or looking for a sound optimised for electro-acoustic guitars. The effects unit offers a total of fifteen effects in five categories, and you can use all five effect groups simultaneously to fully replace the boxes in your pedalboard. Connecting to the BOSS Tone Studio software, you can go even further - you can customise sections with over 60 different effect types, change the order of effects in strings, etc. The Tone Studio itself will be pleased with an upgrade in the form of a new design, the inclusion of Wah and Pedal Bend pedal effects in the new Pedal FX section, or the ability to import patches from the first generation of Katana instruments.

One of the most notable features of the Katana-100/212 MkII is the ability to save your favourite type and effect settings in the Tone Setting memory and recall them instantly. Eight Tone Settings memories are available (two banks of four), and you can select from them directly from the panel, or by using connected external controls (e.g. the Boss GA-FC footswitch).

A handy built-in five-inch monitor lets you practice without connecting a cabinet. Thanks to the Power Amp input, the Katana-Head MkII can also be used as a terminal amplifier for your favorite preamp, modeler or multieffects. The Stereo Expand output connects two 100-watt Katana MkIIs to each other with a single cable. Send the sound of your machine to your PA system, DAW or headphones via the link, USB and headphone/recording out outputs with microphone cabinet simulation. The sound can be shaped using the three different Air Feel settings available in BOSS Tone Studio. Other features include an instrument effects loop (parallel or serial), MIDI input for easy MIDI integration, Aux In input for external audio sources, or three Cab Resonance settings (Vintage, Modern and Deep) - either directly from the panel or in BOSS Tone Studio. The model also supports dual-channel USB operation.

The free Katana MkII Version 2 software update adds a number of new features that further expand the capabilities of the BOSS Katana MkII guitar amplifier. Three different Contour settings with four frequency curves, a new Solo block in the FX Chain (on/off via external footswitch or GA-FC footswitch), a new EQ block in the FX Chain for additional tone adjustments, two new effects - Centa OD (Booster block) and Solo EQ (Solo block), three global EQs, and expanded Line Out IR cabinet options that now include selectable microphone types and positions, giving you more control over your direct sound.
