Taylor Builders Edition 912ce Sinker Redwood

The Taylor Builder's Edition 912ce Sinker Redwood is an electro-acoustic guitar from the Builder's Edition line, which brings together top-of-the-line guitars made in El Cajon, California, and embellished with many luxurious design features including patented V-Class ribbing. The more compact Grand Concert body shape is sure to please guitarists who prefer fingerstyle playing or like to put the pick away from time to time.

The guitar's soundboard is made of Sinker Redwood, whose properties the manufacturer exaggeratedly compares to cedar on steroids. It is a wood cut from logs sunk during the Northern California floatation, meaning the logs were underwater for sometimes over a hundred years, giving it its impressive grain and unique characteristics. The Sinker Redwood is complemented on the back and sides by exclusive Honduran rosewood with equally impressive wood grain and great sonic properties.

Glued to the mahogany neck is an ebony fingerboard fitted with twenty frets. Tuning stability is guaranteed by the TusQ zero fret string attachment in the ebony headstock and the renowned Gotoh mechanics. Playing enjoyment is maximized by the beveled armrest, shaped lower body cutaway (venetian cutaway), modified body edges and patented V-Class ribbing, which improves the guitar's performance in three aspects - increasing the instrument's volume, extending sustain and improving intonation.

The luxurious workmanship is accentuated by the impressive Kona Edgeburst finish on the back and sides, mother-of-pearl inlays on the fingerboard and headstock (Paua, Mother-of-Pearl), mother-of-pearl rosette (Paua) with Hawaiian koa inlay, perimeter fingerboard inlay and Hawaiian koa headstock inlay, Hawaiian koa front and back board binding with mother-of-pearl inlay (Paua), ebony soundhole binding, Antique Gold hardware and ebony veneer on the headstock adorned with the Mother of Pearl Taylor logo.

This is a completely unique way of capturing sound that takes the possibilities of realistic sound reproduction to unprecedented dimensions. Three specially designed independent piezoelectric pickups located behind the fingerboard are used for pickups. Unlike conventional pickups, they do not sense the up and down movement of the board, but the natural back and forth vibration of the grasshopper seat. This makes the sound much more natural, colourful, pleasing and responsive to the dynamics of the playing. The new preamp also makes the signal 25% stronger. Of course, feedback is eliminated and the volume, bass and treble can be adjusted.
