The GROUND/LIFT switch eliminates the creation of a ground loop by galvanic isolation via a transformer. However, devices that already have balanced outputs can also benefit from this feature, as noise can occur here as well.
The Palmer RIVER kyll is capable of very high efficiencies. Compared to conventional line isolators for media applications, it can handle much more "excited" input signals (up to +20 dBu) without audible unwanted distortion. Conversely, it can also handle quieter signals without any change in sound or noise because it operates purely passively with large isolation transformers. The passive mode of operation without power supply makes the RIVER kyll particularly reliable and fault-tolerant, aided by its aluminium-steel alloy chassis. The inputs are designed as combo sockets that accept 6.3 mm jack or XLR connectors. The symmetrical outputs are XLR.
