The Japanese company Yamaha is one of the most well-known and highly sought-after brands in the world of wind instruments. Their products combine modern technology with traditional craftsmanship and the Yamaha YDS-120 digital saxophone is a shining example of this.
The Yamaha YDS-120 uses the sampled sounds of Yamaha acoustic saxophones (soprano, alto, tenor, baritone) recorded by professional saxophonists. It offers a total of 73 presets, including 56 saxophone presets plus sounds of other instruments such as shakuhachi, flute, electronic instruments and more.
The Digital Saxophone captures the rich sound of the saxophone yet can play at full and room volume. With a 15-step scale, you can adjust the volume to suit your exact needs at the time (120 dB - 20 dB) and play your digital saxophone anytime, anywhere without the risk of disturbing anyone.
The breath sensor detects the intensity of your blowing into the saxophone mouthpiece - so you'll simply create beautiful tones and melodies (while maintaining proper fingering) without working out perfect technique and feel. A digital tone generator then converts the digitized signal into sound via an internal speaker.
The digital saxophone's valve layout is modeled after popular acoustic saxophone models to achieve the best possible playing characteristics and natural feel. If required, the fingering can be changed via the appropriate Yamaha app (micro USB connection). The Aux In input for external sound sources and the headphone output allow you to jam to played backing tracks.
The digital saxophone comes complete with a spout. The instrument can be powered by batteries (4x AAA Alkaline or Ni-MH rechargeable batteries) or via USB 5V/1A (micro USB Type-B).
