The Japanese company Ibanez needs no long introduction to guitarists and bassists. It has been on the musical instruments market since the first half of the last century and during that time it has been popular with many musicians - Joe Satriani or Steve Vai to name a few.
The Artcore series basses are aimed at players used to solid-body basses who miss the acoustic tone of lube guitars. In addition, the shorter menstrual length increases playing comfort, and thanks to the body shape and electronics, you get a wider range of tone colors from these basses.
The entire body of this bass is made of maple wood. The three-piece maple and nyatoh neck is glued to the body and features a figured fig fingerboard with a fretboard binding and twenty-two frets. Its radius is 400 mm. The positions on the fingerboard are marked with dots. The gauge of the instrument is 770 mm, the width of the zero fret is 42 mm. There are classic F holes in the body.
The strings are anchored in the stringers and pass through a solid, chrome-plated Gibraltar III cob with 19 mm string spacing. Precision mechanics, also in chrome, are used for tuning.
The sound pickup is provided by two passive Classic Elite Bass humbuckers in vintage finish, which perfectly complement the hollow body and create a thick, warm tone, its colouring particularly suitable for blues, country and jazz. They can be switched between using a three-position switch, and there are volume and tone controls on the body.
Basses from the Artcore series are sure to appeal to all musicians looking for an instrument with a vintage tone, look and rich sound provided by the combination of pickups with a hollow body. This bass is the perfect combination of instruments that have made musical history, but it doesn't lack a modern approach in its craftsmanship. Definitely give it a try.
