The Electro Harmonix STRING9 is a polyphonic synthesizer in pedal effect form that turns your electric guitar into nine different string ensembles and string synths without requiring your guitar to be modified with special pickups or MIDI. So you can choose from a simulation of the sound of a larger symphonic ensemble (SYMPHONIC), an emulation of a Juno analog synthesizer (JUNE-O), the sound of a smaller string section of a vintage PCM synthesizer (PCM), emulations of the Orchestron, ARP Solina and Crumar Performer keyboard/synthesizers, and three sounds with the EHX Freeze effect, which gives notes and chords infinite sustain.
Separate Effect and Dry Volume controls let you set the mix on the Effects output to your exact liking, while a second Dry output lets you pass a clean signal from the input (adjusting the volume controls has no effect on the Dry output). The parameters controlled by the CTRL1 and CTRL2 knobs change depending on the selected effect type.
All electronics are housed in a metal chassis. The pedal effect is wired as a buffered bypass. Use the included 9V adapter for power supply.
