KORG Volca FM 2

Second generation polyphonic digital synthesizer completely reproducing classic FM synthesis. The Volca series sheds new light on classic technology by combining classic devices of the past, such as rhythm machines and the first samplers, with the dance music of today. Now it's time for the Volca series to take on an FM (frequency modulation) sound core. The new Volca fm is already a six-voice digital FM synthesizer completely reproducing the sound of a classic FM synthesizer and is also compatible with it. Volca's unique interface makes it easy to work with characteristic FM sounds even if you don't fully master the complexities of FM synthesis. The 16-step sequencer, as one of Volca's features, comes with the new WARP ACTIVE STEP and PATTERN CHAIN functions, with which you can create even more powerful rhythmic patterning.

When the method of generating sound using FM (frequency modulation) was discovered, it marked a turning point in the history of synthesizers. Metallic and crisp sounds, most often electric piano and synth bass, have been popular with all music makers from the 1980s to the present day. Volca fm perfectly reproduces the sound of the classic digital synthesizer that introduced FM synthesis to the world. Its six operators and 32 algorithms allow full compatibility and also the recording of SYS-EX/SYX files from the Yamaha DX7.

Simple sound editing
Volca fm makes editing FM sounds accessible via the MODULATOR/CARRIER editing knobs - their movements are mapped to multiple parameters, causing obvious sonic changes. Double the power
With 6 voices (instead of the 3 voices of its predecessor), the new volca fm brings a new world of harmonic possibilities to your production. It is now possible to play, sequence or arpeggiate complex chords with up to 6 voices, bringing a unique flavour to your music production. No more lack of voices when sequencing melody, harmony and bass in one device! In addition, the new volca fm is now dynamic-sensitive thanks to MIDI, which combined with its six-voice polyphonic provides a far more expressive and detailed playing experience than ever before.

More effects
By popular demand, the volca fm includes a lush Reverb effect in addition to the Chorus effect. You can use and adjust each of these two effects independently to give the final shape to any FM sound you want to create.

Powerful sequencer and features
The internal sequencer offers looping of up to 16 steps, allowing you to record your playing on a touch keyboard. Up to 16 sequencing patterns can be stored in the internal memory.

The Volca fm also includes a motion sequence function that records all the subtle nuances of your playing and knob movements in real time, allowing you to add time-varying changes to your sound. It's a great way to perfect your loops, and also allows you to create highly original live performances.

New program randomization and performance-oriented features
The new generation of volca fm includes a random program generator that lets you find new inspiration through happy accidents and unexpected sounds.

Of course, it still includes hugely acclaimed features such as warp active step, patter chain and an improved arpeggiator that let you create crazy loop rhythms and patterns with ease.

In addition to the active step feature, which allows you to skip steps during a sequence, volca fm provides new features that allow you to create more irregular rhythms. If the active step is less than 16 steps, you can use the warp active step function to compensate, so you take up the same playback time as 16 steps.

In addition, the pattern chain function allows you to combine multiple sequential patterns into a sequential playback, so you can combine up to 16 sequences to create a large-scale sequence with 32, 64, or even 256 steps.

Full compatibility with classic Sys-Ex
