Ibanez Soundgear Series basses have been providing players with modern alternatives to classic bass designs since 1987. They have been popular mainly due to their ultra-lightweight, smaller body with two cutaways and ergonomic shape, very fast neck with excellent playability and sophisticated electronics. The body of this bass is made of solid African mahogany. Bolted to the body is a neck composed of five pieces of purpleheart and maple woods. The neck is fitted with a maple fingerboard in the popular "roasted" finish, which features 24 Medium-sized frets that have been treated with Premium Fret Edge Treatment technology. Oval inlaid ear markers are used for orientation. The neck radius measures 305 mm. The menstrual dimension corresponds to 864 mm, and the width of the GraphTech Black TUSQ XL's zero fret stops at 38 mm.
The instrument is equipped with two Nordstrand Big Single passive pickups. The Balance and Volume controls are used to influence the tone, and there is also a three-band equalizer, with which you can take away or add bass, treble and mids. The frequencies of the mids you want to adjust can be selected using the three-position switch (250, 450, 700 Hz). The active pickup circuit can be switched off using another switch, so you can use only the treble potentiometer as a tone shield.
The hardware is in black, the strings are mounted in an MR5S-type tailpiece, which means that each string has its own rail. This design helps to maximise the vibration transfer of the strings to the body of the guitar, and thanks to the use of a TUSQ faux ivory fretboard, perfect sustain is also guaranteed. The Gotoh GB707's precision tuning mechanisms with large pins allow for comfortable tuning.
