The BOSS SY-1000 is a synthesizer and modeling processor for guitars and basses that comes with a number of bold innovations - whether in the form of the new Dynamic Synth or a modernized take on older Boss/Roland methods of instrument modeling and synthesis. With a cutting-edge sound processor, high-speed DSP (48 kHz/32-bit sample rate) and advanced GK technology, the SY-1000 offers the best performance and most natural playing experience yet.
With the SY-1000, users can create patches using three instruments at once (each with a multitude of different types to choose from), combining them to create endless palettes of sounds in different shades. In addition to the 13-pin input, you can also use a standard instrument input (6.3 mm jack) to expand the sonic range with standard guitar/bass sounds, i.e. use instruments without special pickups.
The expressive Dynamic Synth technology adds a new dimension to guitar synthesis and allows players to model sounds that were previously impossible to create. There are ten types of sound waves (waveforms), six types of filters, an amp control, two low frequency oscillators (LFOs) and two 16-step sequencers to automate tuning/treble, filter and amplitude parameters. Dynamic Synth is complemented by two synthesizers - an analog-style OSC Synth processor with numerous filtering options and full ADSR control, and a faithful replica of Roland's legendary early '80s analog synthesizer, the GR-300.
The SY-1000 range includes a wide variety of electric, acoustic and bass guitars with custom tuning, equalizer, virtual amp setup and more. There is also a unique VIO guitar instrument that emulates bowed sounds and Poly FX that creates rich, high-resolution modulation sounds/effects.
The SY-1000's effects and user interface are based on BOSS' top-of-the-line multieffects, the GT-1000. The large LCD display and manual controls give free rein to creativity, plus you can assign and operate almost any synthesizer function to the eight footswitches. Of course, you can control and edit parameters using MIDI controllers or external footswitches/expression pedals, a USB interface for direct connection to your DAW, an effects loop for integrating external pedal effects/modules, and flexible routing thanks to Main Output and Sub Output mono and stereo outputs with independent equalization.
The SY-1000 can be easily optimized for use with guitar or bass. A compatible Roland GK pickup and 13-pin cable are required to access all synth and modeling functions. The easiest way is to install a special GK-3 split pickup (compatible with most standard electric guitars) or a GK-3B pickup, which works with most four, five and six-string basses.
The BOSS brand is a division of Roland. It owes its legendary status and the favour of guitarists to its top quality and wide range of products - compact effects processors, multi-effects processors, digital recorders, auto drum machines, metronomes, tuners, etc.
