The Le Preamp series from Canadian brand Two Notes presents four tube preamps (Le Clean, Le Crunch, Le Lead, Le Bass) in compact pedal effects formats. Together with the equally compact Torpedo C.A.B. M guitar speaker simulator, it offers a simple solution to build a complete guitar rig in your pedalboard, i.e. without having to lug heavy speakers, amps or combos.
Le Bass is a two-channel bass preamp. The preamp operates at an internal voltage of 200V and is powered by a Ruby 12AX7AC5 HG tube. The A channel offers ultra clean tone, while the B channel brings with it punchy overdrive, the foundation of the bass rock sound. The channels are completely independent of each other - their own EQ (two and three-band EQ), volume and gain controls. The Fusion mod, which you activate by pressing both switches, offers simultaneous operation of both channels, in both parallel (Cold Fusion) and series/cascade (Hot Fusion) modes, moving towards distortion and synth-character sounds within the tonal spectrum.
The preamp offers a wide range of connection options via Mono (In/Out), Send/Return, Thru, DI XLR, Phones (Jack 3.5mm TRS), MIDI In/Out connectors. From the pedal, you can output the signal to a classic setup (end amp + box), to the aforementioned Torpedo C.A.B. M, to a mixing desk and PA system, to a DAW (the purchase includes access to 16 virtual cabinets from the Wall OF Sound plug-in), to integrate external MIDI devices/controllers and control 5 basic functions (channel A, channel B, Cold Fusion, Hot Fusion, Bypass) or to connect multiple Le Preamp pedals to each other via MIDI In/Out. Of course, you can plug your favorite boxes into the effects loop or play quietly for night sessions thanks to the headphone output.
The preamp also offers an optional built-in speaker simulation, modeled after the aforementioned Torpedo simulator, that affects the DI and headphone outputs, and an optional Ground Lift switch. A 12V DC center negative adapter is used for power supply.
