All the combos in the Unity range share several key features, including three different preamp characters, namely Classic, Modern and Flat, a four-band EQ, an effects unit with chorus and compressor, a line input for connecting a phone or MP3 player, a footswitch input, line and XLR outputs with volume control and the ability to connect headphones. There is also a convenient switch for connecting active or passive bass guitars.
Compared to lower models, the U250 also offers a three-position Response potentiometer, which, in addition to the basic sound of the machine, can conjure up a very convincing simulation of the 6L6 or 6550 tubes in a power amp, thus fundamentally changing the character of the sound. There is also a three-phase distortion switch with Overdrive, Distortion and Fuzz options, which, together with the built-in octaver, greatly expands the sound possibilities of the combo.
