After connecting an instrument (guitar, bass, keys, etc.) and adjusting the input volume with the Gain potentiometer, you can decide between two ways to send the signal. For output to an external amplifier, sound system, pedalboard, etc., the DAC is equipped with a 6.3 mm unbalanced output. The FX/Thru switch lets you choose whether the final sound will be processed (e.g. using AmpliTube) or clean, i.e. a direct signal from the instrument. The second signal path through the 3.5mm output can lead to headphones, but also to a mix or active monitors. For full control of the headphone output, a separate preamplifier with volume potentiometer is available.
The iRig HD 2 boasts 24 bit DACs that work up to 96kHz sample rates. The clean, high-resolution conversion allows for perfect sound capture that sounds natural and free of unwanted coloration.
