Mid-side recording offers the benefits of recording audio with a directional microphone that picks up sound from the front, and a bi-directional side microphone that picks up sounds from the left and right sides of the spectrum. A three-position switch allows you to adjust the settings - the first mode sets the capture in the forward direction, the second offers a wider capture area, and the third mod, labeled "M-S", allows you to reverse-edit the "raw" recording using the Zoom Handy Recorder App, which is free to download.
The Zoom iQ7 also offers a MIC GAIN control for adjusting the input signal level, an LED meter for signal monitoring, a combined headphone/line output and the Lightning connector needed to connect to iOS devices.
