The Jazz Bass is the second bass model that Leo Fender introduced - first as the Deluxe Bass in 1960. The name Jazz Bass was ultimately chosen because Fender felt that a bass of these parameters would appeal particularly to jazz musicians. However, he was a bit wrong about that, because today you can find "JB" in many other genres of music where their warm and thick tone comes into play. This particular model is the signature of legendary bassist Geddy Lee of the band Rush.
The body of this Jazz bass is made of alder. The thick "C" neck is maple and features 20 Medium Jumbo frets. The scale is 864 mm long, the radius of the maple fingerboard is 241 mm. The zero fret is 38.1 mm wide.
The sound here is taken care of by Custom Voiced American Vintage '70s Geddy Lee pickups. Their sound can be controlled with the volume 1, volume 2 and tone potentiometers. The cone is labeled Geddy Lee High Mass Bridge.
