In the development of all Markbass instruments, care is taken to ensure that they are as innovative as possible and are truly what is at the top of the imaginary bass ladder. Interestingly, the Italian brand's philosophy has managed to combine big, variable and high-quality sound with minimising size and, most importantly, weight - an undeniable advantage, not least for those who need to travel frequently with their gear.
Within the Markbass amplifiers you can find both transistor and tube models, and for the end amplifiers not only analogue but also digital is used, which makes it possible to create a really wide range of instruments with a very interesting sound that can be used almost everywhere. The best electronics are used for maximum quality, all major components are siliconized to protect against unwanted vibrations, the chassis of the amplifiers is made of 2 mm thick aluminium sheet, the cabinet of the combos is made of reliable multi-layered poplar plywood. Only neodymium magnets are used in the combos, which have excellent technical parameters and at the same time very low weight. Simply put - quality wherever you look.
MARKBASS MINIMARK 802
This machine shatters all notions that small and light things just can't play well. Those who try it will understand that this little guy is the ideal companion not only for home exercises, which has a really big and, above all, high quality sound. Small but handy - that's Minimark
Minimark has a power of 150W, which is translated into sound waves in two 8-inch neodymium speakers from B&C, whose impedance corresponds to 8 Ohms, for optimal sound projection there is also a piezo tweeter in the cabinet. When an external 8 Ohm speaker is connected, the impedance is reduced to 4 Ohms and the Minimark then produces 250W of power.
The controls on this machine are truly minimalist - only three potentiometers, namely Volume for volume adjustment, VLE (Vintage Loudspeaker Emulation) and VPF (Variable Pre-shape Filter). The VLE basically takes out the high frequencies, making the sound softer and more "vintage" sounding, the VPF adds bass around 35 Hz and treble around 10 kHz, while taking out the mids at 380 Hz, making the sound more modern, "rockier". On the top control panel you'll also find a cable input from your instrument, an AUX input for connecting external devices such as CD or MP3 players, and a headphone output.
The rear panel then houses the internal speaker switch, a balanced XLR line output with Ground-Lift, and a jack for connecting an external speaker.
If you were to take a closer look at the technical information, you would find that the frequency spectrum covered by the internal speaker is 53 - 18,000 Hz, the crossover is set at 3.5 kHz and the speaker sensitivity is 96 dB.
The Markbass Minimark is therefore an interesting machine that certainly doesn't lose itself sonically and offers the best that can be extracted from similar combos. The Minimark doesn't seem to - but it really can do a lot.
