The Precision Bass, Fender's first electric bass model, was introduced in 1951. It was therefore the first ever mass-produced electric bass. The "PB" earned the name "Precision" because, unlike double basses, the fingerboard was roasted - bassists could play with more "precision". In addition, it offered a more concrete and crisp tone. This model has gone through a long evolution over the last few decades and today you can find it in the hands of bassists from blues to R&B to rock.
The Artist Series offers the best of what Fender produces - because these are the signature instruments of some of the most famous and demanding musicians, including Eric Clapton, Ritchie Blackmore, Steve Ray Vaughan, Mark Knopfler, Jeff Beck, Eric Johnson, Dave Murray, and Yngwie Malmsteen. This particular model is signed by Nate Mendel, bassist of the popular band Foo Fighters.
The body of this bass is made of select ash, the neck is made of maple. The neck gauge is 864 mm, the width of the zero fret is 41 mm, its profile is Slim C type, the radius is 7.25 inches and it is fitted with 20 frets. The fingerboard is rosewood.
The instrument is equipped with one Seymour Duncan Basslines SPB-3 Quarter Pound Split Single-Coil pickup. You can adjust the sound using the volume and tone potentiometers.
The strings are anchored in a Leo Quan Badass II headstock. On the other side of the instrument, you'll find Open Gear tuning mechanisms, which make tuning stability truly maximum. The hardware is nickel plated and chrome plated. The zero fret is bone. The bass is strung with Fender USA NPS .045, .065, .080, .105 strings.
The Fender Nate Mendel PB is a bass suitable for anyone looking for the sound that is inherent to these instruments, and knows where to look for the right quality. This instrument is sure to win you over with its sound and other qualities.
