The Digitech Whammy DT is an extended version of the multifunctional pedal effect that combines elements of a pitch-shifter, harmonizer and expression pedal.
The Whammy DT offers three categories of classic pitch-shifting whammy effects (Whammy, Harmony, Detune), which you control in real time via an expression pedal, and the ability to change the tuning (Drop Tune section) within a one-octave interval in either direction. The Drop Tune effect can be used in combination with the Whammy, Harmony and Detune effects.
Effects in the Whammy category allow you to use the expression pedal to bend the tone in selected intervals ranging from +2 octaves (2 OCT UP) to -3 octaves (DIVE BOMB). Effects in the Harmony category generate an additional tone/harmony to the original signal, which you can then bend based on the selected effect/interval using the expression pedal (the original signal is not changed). Harmony effects have a set toe up and toe down position, i.e. e.g. OCT DN/OCT UP.
Effects in the Detune section duplicate the original signal, which they gently detune and re-mix with the original sound (similar to a chorus effect, for example). In the toe up position of the exp pedal, the sound is pure Dry, weaker (Shallow) or stronger (Deep) detuning is revealed only by changing the position of the exp pedal.
The footswitches of the Whammy and Drop Tune sections are complemented by the Momentary footswitch, which can be used to create hammer-on or pull-off style effects by momentarily activating or deactivating the Drop Tune section. The Digitech Whammy DT also offers MIDI controller control and the ability to connect an external FS3X switch (not included) for easier selection between mods and individual effects.
The DT version differs from the base version with two switchable bypass modes - true bypass and DSP bypass. The included adapter is used to power the effect.
