Description of product

The stompbox modeller range represents some of the most famous products from Line 6. These are actually boxes that all offer simulations of the most famous effects in one package. Currently, the basis of this line consists of a Delay modeler, a Modulation effects modeler, a Distortion and Overdrive effects modeler and finally a Filter modeler. These are complemented by the M-series multi-effect modelers, which combine the features of the basic modelers.

The M5 is more of a lower model in this series, but is nevertheless quite full-featured. A brief overview says this: 109 different effects, display, Tap-Tempo, 6 potentiometers, chromatic tuner, true-bypass, full stereo, MIDI-in and -thru, effects loop, expression pedal input, 2 switches. All in one single device.

The M5 offers you all the effects you need - from distortion to modulation and filters to delays and reverbs. These are split between 4 effect units, settings are displayed on separate displays and adjustments are made using custom potentiometers, synchronised by Tap-Temp. These 100+ effects can be set as 24 presets for quick access. Specifically, there are 19 delays, 23 modulations, 17 distortions, 12 compressors and EQs, 26 filters and 12 reverbs. These are all sonically based on the most famous effects that have defined music of the last few decades. The signal chain also includes a precision chromatic tuner that mutes all sound when triggered.

In terms of connectivity, both input and output are handled in stereo. An expression pedal can also be used for control, or the M5 can be communicated with via MIDI protocol.

The Line 6 M5 is a truly versatile multi-effect that offers everything a guitarist could need. All the effects are of the highest quality and the features of the whole device are great. What more could a musician ask for.
