The VoiceTone Single series offers simple stompboxes for singers, each offering certain features you may be familiar with from more complex VoiceTone processors. Their advantage is that you can really choose just what you need, they are easier to use and, most importantly, more affordable. Yet they offer the same quality and technical refinements as the higher-end processors.
Specifically, the D1 model serves as a harmonizer or detune tool, offering 8 working modes. It can double voices, add voices an octave higher or lower, offer doubling with a light chorus effect and other effects. Of course, all signal processing is at studio quality.
Like the other VoiceTones, this model has a high-quality quiet and tonally clean mic preamp, a durable metal chassis, high-quality AD/DA converters, and the same electronics as the flagship TC Helicon VoiceLive 2.
Looking at the box itself, there is a switch, one toggle switch and one potentiometer on the top of the box. The Dry/Wet potentiometer selects the ratio between clean and distorted signal, while the rotary switch selects between 8 types of signal conditioning - specifically Tight, Loose, Group, Detune, Thick,
Octave Up, Octave Down and Shout.
Interestingly, the other elements are on the sides of the VoiceTone - hidden to the left is the mic preamp Gain control, and to the left is a switch that can be used to remotely mute the microphone if you're using the TC Helicon MP-75 model. On the top, of course, there's an XLR mic input, a balanced XLR output and a USB connector with which you can connect the effect to your computer. Thanks to the VoiceSupport app, you can update the effect or find many tips and tricks.
