The purpose of this box is quite clear - the Signal Pad is a passive attenuator, i.e. a signal limiter. It can attenuate your signal without affecting its colour and character in any way, it is actually a kind of the opposite of a booster. You can use the volume reduction if you are using a single-channel instrument, for example, and you want to take advantage of its distortion and at the same time be able to switch to a cleaner sound. You can also use it as a switch between a louder solo sound and a quieter one for accompaniments. Or experiment with its placement in the signal chain and explore its effect on distortion, effect function and signal dynamics. And why make it complicated when it's easy - you only need one potentiometer to control this effect, which determines how much the volume is turned down.
The triggering of the Signal Pad is indicated by a red LED, the stompbox is of course analogue and has True-Bypass, so it doesn't affect the signal in any way in the off state. The power supply is taken care of by either a 9 volt battery or an adapter. Since this is a passive effect, it does not need power to function, the battery or adapter is only used to power the signal LED.
