HARTKE Hydrive 5210C

The HyDrive series represents one of the greatest innovations in the history of basses. It features speakers whose design combines the advantages of both paper and aluminum diaphragms, resulting in better sound quality, better efficiency and higher reliability. In fact, the diaphragm is made of both materials, combining the warm and colourful tone of paper with the clarity and fast attack of aluminium. They also have a great weight-to-power ratio, as you can get up to 250W out of these speakers, yet their weight is 40% less than the competition - this is mainly due to the use of neodymium magnets. Bottom line, HyDrive speakers are the perfect companion for bassists who demand a truly perfect tone even at the highest volumes.

Like all the HyDrive series, this is a very versatile combo that can be used just about anywhere. Its 350W of power is quiet sufficient for use in the rehearsal room or on club stages, and the two 10-inch HyDrive speakers complemented by a 1-inch top end will take care of optimal sound projection. Unique to this version is the fact that its preamp is tube-loaded and contains a 12AX7 tube - this gives it a different tone colour than other HyDrives.

The control of the machine is designed quite clearly. Behind the instrument input there is a Volume potentiometer that determines the volume of the instrument, and behind it there is a Brite switch. The next section belongs to the controls for setting the tone parameters, these are the Bass, Mid and Treble potentiometers. Finally, there is only the built-in limiter switch and XLR DI output.

On the rear panel there are a couple of effect loop in and out connectors and two connectors for connecting speakers or an external speaker box.

The Hartke HyDrive is a machine that will serve even the most demanding musicians well. Its sound, capabilities and reliability are, simply put, stunning.
