SONOR GAVIN HARRISON PROTEAN SIGNATURE SNARE STANDARD

Introducing Gavin Harrison, drummer of bands like Porcupine Tree, King Crimson, OSI, Blackfield or Fjieri, is probably unnecessary. In 2011, he collaborated with Sonor to produce a snare drum that bears the Protean name, a drum with tremendous versatility that makes it perfect for any genre in the rehearsal room, live or in the studio.

These drums are, of course, handmade in Germany, and are 6-ply select birch plywood, 6 millimeters thick in total. On the top side their edge is round, similar to the vintage models from the 70s, the bottom side is beveled to a "modern" 45 degrees. Relatively "vintage" Phonic shells and the popular S-Hoops hoops are used.

Of course, the Dual Glide Snare system is used for string tension and control. The Protean includes special stringers developed specifically for Harrison - the standard model is the Straight 8 with 8 steel strings.

Remo USA CS (playable, sand, center target) and Sonor Medium (resonant) strings are factory stretched. Included are 3 different damping rings that are designed for optimal behavior in conjunction with S-Hoops. Two special tuning keys are also supplied as accessories.
